Welcome to the Cops For Causes page. On this page you will find different events that our union either sponsors or supports within the community. Most of these events are for a child, an adult or entire families, who are in need of emotional and financial support. As the year goes on we will post advertisements of up coming events as well as report on events that have already taken place. Feel free to contact us about any of our events. We are always looking for help to try and make these events a success for all who are involved.

On Friday September 17, 2010 members of Brick PBA 230 attended the Grand Opening of WaWa’s newest site, Store #997 located at 116 Brick Blvd. The event was marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a Hoagie building contest where the Special Events Committee of the PBA went up against members of the Brick Memorial High School Student Council. The competition was designed to raise funds for The Beck Family from Brick who lost their home and it’s entire contents to a fire in August 2010. Both the PBA and the Student Council raised $1,500 dollars for the Beck’s. They still have a long way to go to rebuild, but they have a positive outlook on their future. The Beck’s are a family with seven (7) children and are still in need of resources to get them through this difficult time. A fund has been set up through TD Bank for future donations and it is: The Beck Family Donation Fund, c/o TD Bank. You can also send them an email at helpthebecks@gmail.com.
If you are interested in helping the Beck’s further, please contact Bob Shepherd of the PBA’s Special Events Committee at 732-262-1121.

The annual Veteran's Day Breakfast was celebrated on Wednesday November 11, 2009 at the Brick VFW Post #8867 on Adamston Rd. This is a yearly event where Brick PBA 230 gives back to the courageous men and women who have served in the armed forces both in the past and present. At this year's event, our members served breakfast to over 50 veterans and their families. The PBA celebrated this years event with members of both The VFW and The American Legion Post #348. The food and set-up help was generously donated by Craig Sardoni (also a veteran), owner of Craig's Restaurant on Princeton Avenue. Mr. Sardoni, further gave us several gift certificates to raffle off, which entitled the winners to dinner for two at Craig's Restaurant. Investor Savings Bank also donated gift items that were raffled off during the event.
Once again, the members of PBA 230 wish to thank each and every member of the Armed Forces for their sacrifices and hard work for this great country. We will never forget the services members who have made the ultimate sacrafice and we hope for a safe return home to all the services members still in harms way.

| Helping Hands Benefit Basketball Game |
On Friday March 27, 2009 the Brick Township PBA held its twentieth annual "Helping Hands Benefit Basketball Game". The annual event features members of the Brick Township Police Department playing basketball against the Brick Township Green Dragon Football Team. The game is held as a fundraiser to assist a local family facing financial hardship due to a child's serious illness.
The proceeds of this year's game were donated to the family of 3 year old Kelly Cogswell. Shortly after birth Kelly was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease and a seizure disorder. Mitochondrial Disease causes cells not to process energy efficiently through the brain. The disease is so severe that Kelly must be fed through a feeding tube and needs a nurse most of the day to help care for her.
As a result of generous donations made by Township residents and businesses over $20,000 has been raised to date with donations still coming in.

Every year, we collect toys from both resident and business donations. As the gifts come in we wrap each present, along with many people who donate their time to assist us. Just before Christmas, many of our union members, along with their friends and families, spread out throughout the township and deliver these gifts to girls and boys whose families are going through some financial hard times. The look on these children’s faces when the gifts are delivered are priceless! For many years this event was organized and ran by Joseph Anici and his wife, Denise. Joe has recently retired from the police department. The Toys For Tots program is now being organized and run by James Burgess and his wife, Nadine. If anyone would like to help with the Toys For Tots program, feel free to email our webmaster from the contacts page or call James Burgess at 732-262-1115.

The K-Mart Toy Drive is an event that we have been involved with for many years during the Christmas Holiday. Through the Police Athletic League and Social Services, 40 children are selected and invited by the P.B.A. to go on a shopping spree at the K-Mart of Brick. Each child is escorted by a police officer and allowed to go shopping for toys. There is a set price limit and every child has a blast. Through programs like this we strive to help make the children’s holiday season a little brighter!

| Supporting our Local Veterans |
Every November, the Brick Township PBA, along with the assistance of Craig's Fine Food & Spirits, gives back to our local military veterans. Together, we provide a brunch at the VFW Post on Adamston Road, to thank the Military Veterans for their service and dedication to our country. Craig's prepares and provides the food and member's of the Brick Township PBA, set up and serve the food to these great men and women. Every member of the Brick Township PBA 230, would like to thank all who have served and continue to serve our country.
